Howdy, we're HipSkate. Roll with us and get the skills you need to skate with confidence! We encourage learning by doing and aim to improve ability while increasing self-confidence in our students.
Current Lessons
Level 1 (Basics) – These lessons introduce core skills, incorporates plenty of fun activities and provides opportunities to expand into advanced skills along the way. For years this was the only program we offered and it has proven to increase skills while remaining highly engaging for repeat students. It’s not a race to get into the next level class.
Level 2 (Intermediate) – Prerequisites required, see below. These lessons target students that have the basics down and are ready to be challenged. They should be comfortable on their skates, know how to fall and know how not to fall. We keep it fun, but expect to be pushed a bit more. Prerequisites for Level 2 are as follows:
- Must speak with the Instructor before registering
- Student must pass skills assessment
- Student has taken at least one full HipSkate Level 1 Session
- Students are encouraged to purchase their own “approved” equipment
Note: The Instructor will typically inform Student/Parent when they are ready for Level 2

What is a Session? A Session typically includes 4 Lessons Total (meaning 1 lesson per week for 4 weeks).
When can I register? Registration for Sessions typically opens up just before the start of each Season (Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter). Once registration is open, you are free to sign up at any time.
I’m a new student, what should I register for? Hooray! We’re excited to skate with you. New students must sign up for Level 1, no exceptions. We also recommend signing up for the season. For example, sign up for a September, October, November Level 1 Sessions.

We strive to provide a top-notch program and value the experience of our team. All instructors have been certified through the Skate Instructors Association.
